How do I install HitmanPro.Alert?
  • Please download HitmanPro.Alert here:
  • Open the downloaded file
  • Accept the terms and click Install
  • HitmanPro.Alert will be prepared for first use
  • HitmanPro.Alert is successfully installed on your computer
How do I activate HitmanPro.Alert?

You first need to install HitmanPro.Alert, see Q1.
Do not activate a new product key if you still have remaining days on an active existing license. Remaining days on an older active license will not be added to the new license.

  • Open HitmanPro.Alert
  • Click on the red or green icon in the bottom right corner
  • Click on Activate license
  • Enter your product key, including hyphens
  • Click Activate product key
  • Your license is now successfully activated on your computer
Is HitmanPro.Alert available for Mac/iOS or Android?

No, HitmanPro.Alert is only available for Windows computers and tablets. However, if you need to protect Mac computers, we would highly recommend Sophos Home. We recommend Sophos Mobile Security for Androids and for iOS devices. All created by our parent company, Sophos.

HitmanPro.Alert keeps notifying me that there is an update available

If you are running Windows 10 and HitmanPro.Alert keeps notifying you about an update available, please try the following steps:

  • It’s important not to use “Shutdown” and/or “Sleep” this won’t install the pending updates.
  • Make sure you use the “Restart” feature of Windows to apply the update.
  • Either via Start menu -> Power -> Restart or via right mouse click on the start button “Shutdown or sign out” -> Restart
  • In the odd case that even that doesn’t work try the following, press Windows key + R and in the “Open” field type “shutdown /r /t 00” (without the “” around it) and press ENTER to reboot instantly.
I get Generic error when I try to activate. What should I do?

I have lost my product key. How can I retrieve it?

You can always request to resend your license information via this webpage: After you enter the registered email address you will receive an email with a link to your product key.

I get the message “This license is not suitable for this product.” What should I do?

You have accidentally purchased a HitmanPro license which won't activate HitmanPro.Alert. You need a HitmanPro.Alert license to activate HitmanPro.Alert. Please purchase the correct license via our website ( Then contact us with the reference number of both the incorrect and the correct order at and we'll remedy the situation.

Do you auto-renew my license?

No, we are not auto-renewing licenses. We would not start without your express permission. Renewal is a manual procedure for our users.

HitmanPro.Alert is blocking a program that I believe is not malicious. What should I do?
